Speaking during NTV Premium talk show On the Spot Democratic Party President Nobert Mao has stressed that the opposition wants to see change in Uganda without bloodshed. “We are in confrontation with Yoweri Museveni a very seasoned dictator who has built a military and security machinery right from the village level whose main mission is to keep him in power” Mao noted.
“We battle a biased police and Electoral Commission which will do anything to keep Museveni in power” Mao noted.
“You have the District Internal Security Organisations (DISO’s) Regional Security Organisations and all other security machinery whose main aim isn’t to offer service delivery to the people but to keep Yoweri Museveni in power” he said.
Mao also revealed that the International Community has continued to cheer Museveni on for whatever reasons despite the contemptuous way he talks about them. Commenting on the current dissenting voices within the NRM, Mao said that it was good news for the opposition and Ugandans that there are fights between Museveni and Mbabazi.
“When we hear dissenting voices in the NRM then it is good news for Ugandans. It means people are waking up including those who have been pretending to be asleep including Amama Mbabazi” he noted.
“My job is not to issue any threat or spread fear. I definitely wouldn’t want to see what happened in Libya happen in Uganda. Gaddaffi had a choice, he reaped what he sowed” he warned.
“If you saw dissention, corruption, tyranny, dictatorship then you will reap what Gaddaffi reaped” Mao continued.
Mao also emphasized Besigye’s appeal to the entire opposition and Ugandans to be more active on the ground in order to achieve the much needed change.
“Opposition needs to be more organized and less fragmented so that Ugandans continue to see us on the ground” he stressed.
“We have retired colonels and Generals who have served in the military but we have chosen the path of non-violence because we know the consequences of war” he noted.
He revealed that the opposition’s victory will not depend on Amama Mbabazi but on Ugandans who have decided that they deserve better.
