The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced the temporary closure of Nakiwogo -Buwaya ferry effective Monday 6th January 2025. The closure according to the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Waiswa Bageya is intended to allow government conduct scheduled maintenance works so as to ensure continued safety and reliability. The ferry will temporary close business for a period of three weeks and resumes operations on January 27, 2025. The affected users include travellers and business persons who use the ferry to transport their goods from Buwaya zone to Nakiwogo and vice versa. Mbale City Police are investigating circumstances under which a daylight robbery took place with a businessman losing 50 million shillings on Naboa Road. The incident, which occurred at around 11:30.am on Monday, 30th December, 2024 has raised lots of unanswered security questions. Police in Katwe are investigating a suspected murder case that occurred on Wednesday at Ndejje-Kibutika Mirimu cell, Makindye Sabagabo.
