
A Boda Boda rider identified as Eric Kakande met his demise on Monday Afternoon after he was knocked dead by a government coaster at the Muzinga Park near State House Entebbe. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the deceased was knocked by a government coaster that was rushing to Entebbe International Airport to drop Athletes who participated in the World Cross Country Championships that were held on Sunday at the Kololo Independence Grounds.
“After the police lead car had quickly passed clearing the road for the convoy, Eric (deceased) who was riding his Boda Boda in a wrong lane wanted to quickly cross the road and ride along the right lane minus waiting for the convoy to pass. Unfortunately the driver of the coaster that was following the lead car rammed into him and he died on spot after he sustained several injuries on the head and legs. Eric had just dropped a passenger at Entebbe Municipal Council”, an Eyewitness disclosed.

The eyewitness also revealed that the athletes were transferred into another vehicle though the coaster’s whereabouts aren’t known.

The deceased body was rushed to Entebbe Grade ‘B’ Hospital by Police. Several close friends and residents disclosed that the deceased was a senior Boda Boda rider in Katabi Busambaga zone in Entebbe Municipality and operated from ‘Scorpion Stage’.
Several Katabi-Busambaga residents who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that the deceased loved boozing heavily and had been warned several times to quit. He had several issues with his Boss.
The Boda Boda bike was towed to Entebbe Police Station as investigations into the cause of the accident continue. The Entebbe Police Traffic In charge Eriya Kamugisha declined to comment on the accident.
