Reknowned ex-journalist Robert Wamala Lumanyika dies in a nasty car accident after the car they were travelling in hit an elephant.
The accident occurred on the Gulu-Kampala highway near Karuma, a region where wildlife regularly passes through.
Robert, alongside two other colleagues from URA, was traveling from Arua to Kampala in a white Toyota HiAce Minivan UA 20121AA when they hit an elephant at a crossing.
The car carrying the seven passengers lost control, killing three occupants on the spot, while four others sustained serious bodily injuries.

The injured were rushed to Kiryandongo Hospital for medical attention, while the lifeless bodies were taken to Anaka Hospital Mortuary.

At the time of his death, Robert Wamala Lumanyika was working in URA as a tax educator known for his role in public tax awareness campaigns and educational programs. Friends, colleagues, and fans flooded social media with condolences upon his demise.
Before joining the tax authority, Lumanyika was a prominent media personality and news anchor for the now-defunct WBS TV. MHSRIP.
