A joint security investigation into the operations of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is underway at the troubled organisation’s headquarters in Entebbe. The probe was ordered by President Museveni to investigate suspected acts of sabotage by top CAA officials. The Deputy of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa has directed authorities at Ministry of Works and Transport to explain why powerful sanctions haven’t been placed on Entebbe International Airport staff involved in extorting money from travellers. Police in Kampala have arrested a city pastor and three of its officers in connection to the alleged rape of a Latvian national. The detained include Pastor Joseph Twahirwa of the Bugolobi based Epikaizo Ministries International, who is alleged to have sexually assaulted one Anda Saulite at his home. The Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has suspended its president Dr Samuel Oledo, whom it accuses of breaking its code through his association with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. Uganda Police in Kampala have arrested two senior employees of used car importing company, Be Forward Uganda Ltd, on allegations of fraud. The two suspects, Caroline Nampeera and Annet Nagawa were detained at Jinja Police Station and face charges relating to obtaining money by false pretense and economic fraud. President Museveni has said Uganda needs to get out of borrowing especially internally as it is not necessary. “Uganda is devising means on how to reduce or stop borrowing especially internally,” Museveni told representatives of Uganda Bankers’ Association at State House Entebbe on Wednesday.
