
For the fourth year running, Irene Nakalembe has continued to dominate the Entebbe Ladies Open, a tournament that was only initiated eight years ago. Irene Nakalembe, Entebbe’s finest lady golfer carded 78 gross on day one (Friday) and 70 gross on day two (Saturday) to return a total of 148 gross. Irene Nakalembe’s closest challengers Tanzania’s Madina Iddy and Magala Eva settled for runner up and second runner up positions with 149 and 156 gross from the two day 36 hole golfing action.
Other Winners:
Peace Kabasweka (H/C 10) and Okura Moureen (H/C23) were crowned Silver and Bronze Nett winners with 144 and 141 Nett respectively. Playing Golf Handicap 19, Peace Muyege won the seniors category with 152 Nett.
Lady President’s Shield:

Irene Nakalembe, a Handicap 03 Golfer, also won the Lady President’s Shield tourney with 67 Nett. Peace Kabasweka topped Group A (H/C 0-12 category) and won on count back with 69 Nett. Katy Kabenge won Group B (H/C 13-23 category) with 69 Nett while Tumusiime Pamela won group C (H/C 24-36 category) and won on count back with 70 Nett. Madina Iddy scooped the guest winner’s prize with 69 Nett.
Nakalembe had this to say;
I had a good round of golf on Friday. Madina and Eva Magala were very competitive and I urge to continue fighting hard but above all I thank God because I always called on him and he guided me entirely on the 36 holes. I also thank my sponsor MSL for standing with me.
Irene Nakalembe’s success earned her a flat screen TV Set, trophies and a weekend for two at the Kabalenga lodges courtesy of Dr. Peter Apell.

The biggest surprise of the day came from the men’s subsidiary event after Charles Mubiru hit a hole in one on hole number 8 using a pinnacle one ball and a 7 callaway XT 7 Iron. He walked away with a black label whiskey.
All the winners in the various categories walked away with various prizes and accolades courtesy of tournament sponsor Castle Lite and Britam Insurance. The Entebbe Ladies Open attracted lady Golfers from Kenya, Tanzania and Lesotho.
The chief Guest of the day, Hon. Rose Tumusiime (Entebbe Municipality MP) congratulated all the winners and players for participating in the tournament and called the Golfing fraternity to work towards attracting more women to play Golf. MP Tumusiime thanked the Entebbe Golf Club leadership for re-greening and beautifying the Golf course and urged them to partner with various stakeholders to have the Golf course lit in the night to avoid turning into a hide-out for wrong doers. MP Tumusiime pledged to donate Golf balls to the women Golfing Association.
