
The fifth Edition of the Annual Mama Becca Women’s Day Football Cup came to a climax on Sunday at the Kiwafu Play Ground in Entebbe Municipality with Ajax Queens being crowned Champions. Ajax Queens beat Kawempe Muslim 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw. Jinja Main Street Primary School was crowned Under-14 champions after they beat Taggy Girls 2-0. Ex-She Cranes beat USPA Ladies 2-0 in the curtain raiser match.
Daughters of the Late Mama Becca Mariam Ssempijja and Slyvia Nalumu appreciated the Federation of Uganda Football Association (Fufa) and the entire football fraternity for promoting women’s football in Uganda, an initiative that was started by their Late Mum Kazibwe Becca (Mama Becca). The Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rose Tumusiime and the Deputy Mayor Richard Sekyondo hailed all the participants and organizers and promised to work with Fufa in their Women’s football developmental programs.

The two day tournament that begun on Saturday attracted a number of women’s football teams from several districts including Jinja, Iganga, Mukono, Mityana, Mubende, Nakawa, Kawempe, Kampala Central, Makindye, Rubaga, Wakiso and Kakira. Entebbe Municipality was ably represented by Marine Base Primary School, Nsamizi, Lake Victoria School, Uganda Airforce and St. Joseph’s Katabi.
