
Ministry of Local Government has officially granted Entebbe Municipal Council to create more villages in Entebbe Municipality so as to address the Administration Challenges. The villages to be sub-divided include Katabi-Busambaga, Lugonjo-Nakiwogo, Makusa and Lwamunyo islands in Kigungu and Mayanzi also in Kigungu.
Sources at Entebbe Municipal Council have revealed that Katabi-Busambaga and Lugonjo-Nakiwogo will be subdivided into three villages while Mayanzi will be subdivided into two villages.
“We as Municipal Council are glad that Ministry of Local Government and the Electoral Commission had our appeal and have accepted to create more villages in Entebbe. Katabi-Busambaga and Lugonjo – Nakiwogo are the most densely populated villages in Entebbe with a population of about 6000 voters. These two villages are large and by subdividing them we shall have solved on the administrative challenges that the respective LC1 Chairmen face. We hope that by subdividing the villages, Government will bring services closer to the people,” Mayor Kayanja revealed.

Mayor Kayanja also revealed that there is a need to create other sub-wards from Central Ward which covers the entire Division A and Kiwafu ward which covers Lugonjo- Nakiwogo. He disclosed that Bugonga Sub-ward should be created from Central Ward while Lugonjo Sub-Ward should be created from Kiwafu ward.
The respective villages to be subdivided will hold a series of consultative meetings on the boundaries of the new villages, security and number of people in the new village. A full report will be submitted to the Local Government Ministry on September 6, 2017 for discussion and approval.
Meanwhile Katabi Town Council has created 8 new villages and are waiting for approval from Ministry of Local Government.
