Former Uganda Airlines pilot Captain Ernest Elema Yoti met his unfortunate demise on Thursday at his residence located in Nsamizi, Entebbe Municipality after his Pajero Registration UAD 281W smashed him while he was trying to open the gate.
Close family members of the deceased revealed that he returned from his farm in Kigungu between 9pm and 10pm, parked and as he was trying to open the gate, the vehicle all of a sudden started itself and because of the slope at his residence, the vehicle gained momentum and it came rolling him down the slope until it hit him on the pavement, smashing his legs and head. He died en route to Kisubi Hospital where he was being rushed for Medical attention.
During the requiem mass that was held at Bugonga Catholic Church on Saturday, Late Yoti’s friends, family, children and relatives described him as a simple man who was soft spoken, humble, generous, so friendly, kind and God fearing man who had a big heart.
The late Ernest Yoti is survived by a widow Edith Yoti and eight children. His first wife Nalongo Justine whom they separated with many years ago was also present at the Requiem mass. Nalongo Justine’s Children are inclusive of the eight children.
The Late Ernest Yoti who died aged 65 years flew several Airlines as a chief pilot including Uganda Airlines, Air Zimbabwe, Das Air Cargo, Regional Air Nairobi (Kenya) and East African Airways (Uganda/Congo Brazzaville). He retired in April 2015 after working with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for close to 8 years as a senior operations officer/inspector.
The Late Ernest Elema Yoti will be laid to rest on Sunday at 4pm in Namirembe Village, Kayunga District.
