Dr. Michael Lulume Bayiga, the Legislator for Buikwe district on Friday announced that Democratic Party (DP) is ready to back ex Prime Minister, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi in the
impeding National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.
He made the revelation at Kiwafu play grounds in Entebbe Municipality while celebrating 60years of existence of the Democratic Party (DP).
Dr. Lulume who officiated the commissioning of the party offices in Kiwafu zone along Herman Mukasa road said Democratic party Leadership in Uganda will drum support for Amama Mbabazi to see that he wins president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the NRM primaries in case he happens to contest against him.
“We are determined and ready to drum up support for Hon. Patrick Amama Mbabazi such that he competes favorably with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the party primaries, ‘Said Dr. Lulume.
“Museveni must accept to compete with others in the NRM primaries rather than seeking to run as a sole candidate. “He (Museveni) has messed up the NRM party to the extent of making everyone within the party believe that he is the only leader with a vision to lead Uganda, a hypothesis which is totally wrong,” he added.
He disclosed that Universal Primary Education (UPE) program was in the Democratic Party manifesto of 1962 and Museveni has just copied it and as a result he poorly implemented it.
Joseph Balikudembe Mutebi, the Legislator for Busiro South Constituency in Wakiso district described and likened President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to an aged woman who has clocked menopause arguing
that Museveni was supposed to leave power in 2006 but fortunately he maneuvered to win the election under unclear circumstances.
Balikudembe who is currently choking on Shs 630m debt asked the youths to team up and fight Museveni’s unpopular regime which he claims has left majority of the youths in abject poverty.
Francis Makumbi, the General Secretary for Democratic Party in Entebbe Municipality said that president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will never win any elections in Entebbe Municipality citing the 2011 polls where Democratic Party won Museveni with 80%.
Moses Bigirwa, the National Youth Chairperson for Democratic Party(DP) stated that he has fought Museveni for the past 30years adding that his time is up and this time round he (Museveni) will leave power at whatever cost.
He noted that Museveni’s Government has tormented them to the maximum and it was high time for DP to take over power by all means come 2016 polls.
Norbert Mao, the DP president General revealed that Museveni’s Government survives by powers of the gun adding that DP will take over power without shedding blood but through free and fair elections which apparently aren’t there in Uganda.
