Entebbe Municipality Democratic Party publicist Maggwa Ssali has lashed out at Mohamed Kawuma over his continued violation of the party principles. Maggwa who spoke to entebbenews in an interview indicated that Kawuma and Sadiq Mukasa have consistently engaged themselves in acts contrary to Democratic Party principles and values.
The duo and Walusimbi Abubaker formed a rival pressure group the Real Democrats (RD) to fight the main stream Democratic Party in Entebbe that is led by Ssenoga Mivuule as Chairman and Mayor Vincent Kayanja DePaul as Vice Chairman. The trio is fronting NRM’s Joseph Ssesanga as their Mayoral candidate yet Kayanja will also be running for his second term.
“They violated the party constitution as per chapter 2 article 8 that spells out the duties of the party members which include; protecting the good name, solidarity and unity of the party. The Party can do without Kawuma because we don’t tolerate indiscipline. The party invited him so that the differences could be solved but he has vehemently ignored the invitations” Maggwa said.
Maggwa also revealed that Sadik Mukasa former party organizing secretary was also suspended over indiscipline.
“We had convened a disciplinary committee headed by Ssenoga Mivuule to iron out the differences but Sadik ignored the summons. The committee resolved to suspend him indefinitely” he stated.
He also dismissed allegations that the party was fronting Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa as sole candidate for the post of Member of Parliament and denying other aspirants a chance.
“The Party hasn’t ring fenced the parliamentary position. All those who have the necessary qualifications are welcome to vie the parliamentary seat in the party primaries. We don’t entertain sole candidates in the Democratic Party” Maggwa stated.
Maggwa also scoffed at Walusimbi Abubaker whom he said is a new comer in the party and doesn’t have the relevant qualifications to participate in the Democratic Party primaries.
“Walusimbi is relatively new in the Democratic Party so he isn’t eligible to vie for the parliament seat. The party constitution states that for a member to vie for the parliamentary seat, they should have been active members in the party for at least five years” he added.
He continued: “Walusimbi was supporting NRM in the 2011 elections. We only saw him recently in 2014”
Maggwa also appealed to Achilles Kiwanuka to accept the results of the Just concluded internal party elections where he lost on the parish level and vowed to petition NEC claiming that the elections were are fraud.
“Kiwanuka cannot say that the internal party elections were are fraud yet he actively participated in them. Let him accept the results and we move forward because he has no proof” he continued.
