The Uganda Cranes will be returning home Friday November 21 aboard Qatar airways flight at 1pm after failing to qualify for the AFCON 2015 Finals to be held in Equatorial Guinea. Uganda lost 2-0 to Guinea at the Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco and Skipper Andy Mwesigwa is in the spotlight for his dismal performance that resulted in Uganda’s 2-0 loss. He was given matching orders during the match and several football fans in Uganda have called for his retirement from the National team.
Mwesigwa has decided to close his face book page indefinitely after several fans have criticized him. A highly placed source revealed that Mwesigwa might not return tomorrow with fellow team mates. Meanwhile more fans have also continued to criticize Coach Micho.
Andy Mwesigwa took over from as cranes captain in 2011 after Sekagya retired from international football. The 30 year old who plays for Kazakhstan side FC Ordabasy as a defender made his international debut for the Uganda cranes in 2003.
Elsewhere Egypt and defending champions Nigeria are the two big names who failed to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
On a tense final match day across the continent, Ebola-ravaged Guinea joined Ivory Coast, Mali and Ghana in qualifying for AFCON 2015, but defending champions Nigeria crashed out.
Nigeria failed to beat Bafana Bafana to ensure their ticket to the continental showpiece which will be held in Equatorial Guinea from January 17 until February 8, 2015.
