Four time Presidential contender and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Rtd Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has unleashed a three point program to take power in 2016. Besigye urged thousands of his supporters to stand with him and liberate the country first. Besigye who was speaking amidst thousands of his supporters at Nakivubo stadium shortly after being nominated at Namboole stadium urged his supporters to remain focused and strong in the quest for change.

“Today (Tuesday) we have began the journey to liberate our country. In Uganda today power is vested in the hands of a few people who control state resources, Electoral commission, Judiciary and parliament. I urge all of you to stand with me and for our rights as citizens. We need to hand power back to the people.” Besigye told his supporters.

    He added:

After liberating the country, we shall restructure the state to ensure that all institutions are independent and serve all Ugandans regardless of religion, tribe and party affiliation. Thirdly we shall transform the economy to ensure an all inclusive growth for all Ugandans. These are the three key points that we shall focus on during our campaigns. We shall also unveil our (FDC) manifesto during the subsequent campaigns.

He cited Elias Lukwago whom he said won the mayoral elections but has never exercised his authority.

“Look at my brother Lukwago, you voted for him but he has never exercised his authority because Museveni has frustrated him” he told his supporters.

Besigye also stressed the need to have a smaller cabinet and parliament.

“Why should we have a cabinet of 80 ministers, a parliament of 400 MP’s and countless presidential advisors? I’ll cut the cost of public administration expenditure by reducing on the size of cabinet, parliament and presidential advisors” he echoed.

“We shall also ensure that teachers, police and army officers get a pay rise. They too are suffering and they need to be liberated” Besigye continued.

“Many of the traders here in Kampala are silently suffering with the skyrocketing inflation. They are now paying their rental charges in dollars because the shilling has lost value. Unemployment is at it’s highest, the health and educational system are all dysfunctional” Besigye noted.

He hailed FDC Party President Mugisha Muntu for managing the party affairs well. He also thanked other party leaders for escorting to Namboole to be nominated.

Gen. David Sejusa who was present at the rally urged Ugandans to join Besigye and fight what he termed as slavery. Conservative Party president John Ken Lukyamuzi accused Go-Forward Candidate Amama Mbabazi of using money to disorganize the Democratic Alliance.

Others who graced the rally where city lord Mayor Elias Lukwago and members from his platform for truth and justice.

“This is a do or die opportunity for us to liberate our country. I’ve decided to support Besigye because he has led our struggles for the last 15 years. Besigye also vowed to deal with the corrupt.
