Rwanda received the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccines through the COVAX initiative on Wednesday. Government through the Ministry of Energy has announced resumption of the Electricity Connection Policy, which had been placed on hold since late last year. Under the policy which is being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), government provides for free connections to the national grid for domestic users who need one pole or no pole at all. Captain Caroline Busingye, the UPDF trainee pilot who perished in a helicopter crash on Thursday last week in Entebbe has been laid to rest at her ancestral home in Rwekuraijo cell, Buyanja sub-county in Rukungiri district. Capt. Busingye was a granddaughter to former Presidential Commission member Polycarp Nyamuchonco. The Commission ceremonially led Uganda for a period of 6 months with Saul Musoke and Wacha Olwol from May to December 1980. At least two people are said to have died in a freak accident in Kiruhura district on Monday morning. The accident involved a Toyota Noah Registration number UAX 357A which reported crashed into a Global Coaches Bus number UBE 967M. The accident happened at Sanga along the Mbarara Masaka road at around 6:30 am this morning. Eyewitnesses said the Toyota Noah driver seemed to have lost control and that the vehicle suddenly overturned and slammed into the oncoming bus. Both passengers in the Noah died instantly. There were however, no reported serious injuries among the bus passengers.
