Defected senior Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) Commanders Bosco Kilama and Simon Peter Ochora have confirmed that Joseph Kony has lost grip of the force and has no capacity to destabilize Uganda and other regional neighbours (Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan and Central African Republic) where the LRA was most active.
Bosco Kilama confirmed to the media during a Press conference that was held at the Uganda People’s Defence Airforce (UPDAF) headquarters on Friday in Entebbe shortly after they were received at Entebbe International Airport that the LRA is in total disarray and completely disorganized with no central command.
“As I speak, the LRA is completely disorganized with no central command and Joseph Kony no longer has the capacity to destabilize Uganda. Kony is now minding about his personal survival. I last saw Kony in March 2016 in Darfur, Sudan were we left him and proceeded to the DRC where we arrived in May 2016. He (Joseph Kony) is still in good health and now has gray hair. He is still doing some routine attacks in different communities basically to find food. He has sent away some of the small groups that are operating on their own”, Bosco Kilama confirmed.
Simon Peter Ochora revealed that during the insurgency, Joseph Kony mainly relied on fear propaganda to indoctrinate the abductees and ensured that they didn’t have access to radio receivers to deny them communication with the outside world.
“I was abducted at School in Layiibi, Gulu and we were moved to Sudan, DRC and Central Africa Republic (CAR). I was under the command of Venansio Okumu and I’ve never seen Kony with my own eyes. Many of the rebels want to defect because the mission that forced Kony to wage war has lost direction”, 26 year old Simon Peter Ochora confirmed.
At 45 years, Bosco Kilama joined the LRA in 1996 and was a senior LRA Commander until recently when he made up his mind to return home after he was granted amnesty.
“Our biggest challenge right now is how to return with other families because many of us (former rebels) have children”, Bosco Kilama stated.
The Uganda People’s Defence Airforce (UPDAF) Spokesperson Capt. Arthur Timbaganya disclosed that both Bosco Kilama and Simon Peter Ochora voluntarily handed themselves over to the Ugandan Authorities in Obbo, Central Africa Republic where they were based. He said that the LRA has no capacity to destabilize the security and peace of Uganda and the neighboring regions. He appealed to the public to receive them into their communities because they have denounced the Lord’s Resistance Army.
