Masavu continued to bolster their prospects of joining the top tier Azam Premier League after their hard fought 1-0 victory against a seemingly strong and resilient Kawempe based Baza Holding. Charles Odeke broke the dead lock in the final first half minutes with a left-foot shot that went past rowdy Baza Holding goalie Michael Majwenga into the back of the net. Baza Holding bounced back in the second half much more composed and proved a threat but couldn’t go past Masavu’s well organized and better coordinated defensive pack. Baza Holding goalie Michael Majwenga earned himself a yellow card after his brawl with the referee. After the final 90 minutes whistle, Masavu stretched their lead on the Rwenzori group log to ten points ahead of second placed Mbarara city that lost 3-0 to Kireka. Former Express Coach Alex Gitta perfectly stood in for suspended Masavu coach Allan Kabonge and commanded the troops perfectly well.
Masavu who have continuously kept a clean sheet at their Katabi Gombolola home ground will take on Express FC on Saturday at the Wakulukuku ground in the Uganda Cup and have three more matches to play in the Fufa Big League fixture.
