Mary Reparatrix Secondary School is seeking for over Shs 1.4 billion to embark on the construction of a school dormitory that is expected to accommodate close to 600 students upon completion. The school authorities including the Headmistress Miss Jessica Sanyu and the board chairman Rev. Father Francis Byarugaba held a fundraising ceremony on Sunday that was presided over by Rev. Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu at the school. According to the Headmistress the school has become so congested and cannot accommodate the rising number of students who are flooding the school every year. As a result some classrooms and school laboratory at night serve as dormitories.
The Headmistress and the board chairman are now on their knees and appealing to well wishers, all Old girls, parents and good Samaritans to bring in any kind of support from material to financial assistance to kick start the project. The dormitory is expected to have four floors upon completion.
Several activities have been lined up to fundraise for the dormitory including a play entitled “Enangi’s Dream” that will be showcasing at Entebbe Cinema Hall on 5th December at Ushs10,000 and on 12th December the play will show case at the National Theatre at only Shs. 15,000. Tickets can be bought at the school. Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu urged all well wishers and parents to support the girl’s school.
