A 31 year old woman identified as Faith Komugisha also popularly known as Jamilah a scrap dealer and a resident of Kitinda village in Katabi Town Council was on Tuesday morning discovered dead and naked in a garden near former Ssese gateway Beach after she was gang raped by unknown goons in the wee hours of the night. According to 15 year old Fred Bulega, a Primary seven (P.7) pupil and a son to the deceased disclosed that his mum left home at around 10pm on Monday to go and watch TV at a neighbor’s place and that was the last time he saw her. Bulega disclosed that it was one of his friends who notified him that his mum had been brutally murdered and was lying dead in a garden just a stone throw away from their residence. After raping her, the goons pushed a stick into her private parts.
Bulega revealed that different people have been hunting down for his mum and that two weeks ago two people stormed her residence located along the main road in the morning hours over scrap related dirty deals.
The Kitinda LC1 Chairperson Elizabeth Nalubega Kiruluuta revealed that she had warned the deceased several times to stop dealing in Scrap business and do other businesses like frying pancakes and cassava after Police caught her with stolen Scrap and she was arrested and put behind bars for close to one week at Entebbe Police Station but was released. Nalubega also disclosed that of recent the deceased had run away to the village after her fellow scrap dealers around Kitubuulu zone were arrested early this month after they were caught with stolen scrap. She returned a few weeks ago after her fellow scrap dealers were released from Jail.
“I had warned Jamilah to stop dealing in Scrap business because she was arrested over selling stolen scrap but she couldn’t listen. She separated with her husband Godfrey Nsubuga (42 years) a fisherman last year after they got misunderstanding. That day they found me at home and Nsubuga claimed that she had cut one of his fingers. Nsubuga divorced her that very day after I failed to reconcile them but he has been supporting the four children. While I was trying to reconcile them, Jamilah (deceased) appeared so unruly and bad mannered and when I inquired from Nsubuga where he got her from, he told me that he hooked her up in a bar in Abaita Ababiiri where she was working”, Nalubega Elizabeth disclosed.
Nalubega Elizabeth warned women and girls to avoid walking alone at night adding that in cases where it is unavoidable let them walk in a group with people they know very well because Kitinda Village and Kitubuulu zone are hideouts for weed and Marijuana smokers. The deceased quit Islam and had joined the Born again Pentecostals.
Meanwhile Police in Entebbe is hunting down for the culprits because a few weeks ago a pregnant roadside chips vendor Nansubuga Gorretti operating near Nkumba University was also gang raped and brutally murdered. She was found dumped in a maize garden near her residence in Kasenyi zone with a stick inside her private parts.
“We are investigating this horrific incident and we shall leave no stone unturned. This is the second time such an incident is happening. Women being raped and thereafter a stick pushed into their private parts. We suspect either the killer is the same or it is a network”, a Police officer who was at the scene and didn’t want to disclose his names revealed. The body of the deceased was rushed to Mulago Hospital.
