
Barely a day after the decomposing body of Harriet Nantongo was discovered in a thick bush in Nkumba Bukolwa, Bwaise Zone on Tuesday, residents of Lyamutunde village, Mpala zone in Katabi Town Council woke up to the sad and devastating news after the body of 22 year old Sarah Nelima was discovered on Wednesday morning naked and dumped in a garden just a few meters from Friends restaurant and Takeaway kiosk where she has been working.
According to colleagues who were working with the deceased, they disclosed that Sarah Nelima, a resident of Kakindu village in Kawuku zone left work between 8pm and 9pm and on her way home, she could have been waylaid by the serial killers. Her body was taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem.
In her statement to the Police, Immaculate Nakaye, a resident in the neighbourhood indicated that at midnight she heard a woman screaming and abruptly stopped and she had footsteps of people walking. Immaculate Nakaye indicated that thereafter she heard a sound of Boda Boda motorbike speeding off.
Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye who was also present at the scene of crime disclosed that though the Mayumba Kumi security measure in Katabi Town Council is yielding positive results since its introduction, it needs to be reviewed because there are gaps that need to be closed.
Kasingye called on members of the public, the media and other stakeholders to join in what he described as a war against the criminals who are killing women.
Sarah Nelima is the 11th woman to be murdered in Katabi Town Council since June.
