Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury Ramathan Ggoobi has urged Ugandans to be vaccinated against covid-19 for the economy to be reopened fully in January.
Ggoobi who was speaking during a tour of National Medical Stores on Saturday disclosed that the only reopen the economy fully is for Ugandans to be vaccinated.
“The only way we shall recover the economy is for Ugandans to be vaccinated because vaccination has been found to be the game-changer. We want to have as many Ugandans to be vaccinated because it’s the only way we shall live longer,” Ggoobi disclosed.
He also urged Ugandans to stop listening to rumors regarding the vaccines and added that vaccines are in plenty and there should be no reason why Ugandans fail to be vaccinated.
Ggoobi also revealed that Ministry of finance, National medical stores and other stakeholders will have to come up with solutions regarding the accountability of medicines that are delivered at different health centers.
Ministry of finance, National medical stores, and other stakeholders need to devise ways of expanding the mandate of National Medical Stores so that apart from procuring and delivering drug supplies and medicines to health centers and government hospitals, they also go further and ensure that the drug supplies and medicines they have delivered reach all Ugandans to avoid having discrepancies because medicines and drug supplies are delivered but complaints of non-availability of drugs and medicines never stop, Ggoobi stated.
