    First Runner up: Eva Magala: 177 gross

    UPDF Captain Flavia Namakula couldn’t hold back her smile and excitement after she was declared overall winner of the inaugural 2014 palm valley ladies open Golf Tourney held on Saturday.

    Namakula Flavia returned 165 gross to emerge overall winner out of the 52 ladies who participated in the inaugural tournament.

    “I didn’t expect to win this tournament, I found the course hard but I am surprised that i’ve won this tournament. I want to thank you all for participating in this tournament and most importantly I want to thank the sponsors Uganda Breweries Limited, Pinnacle security and St. Augustine University for their support”, a smiling Namakula said shortly after being declared overall winner.

    In first Runner up was Eva Magala she returned 177 gross while Kyomugisha Meron was second runner up after returning 179 gross.

    Police Boss Gen. Kayihura who was chief guest congratulated the winners and urged residents of Kankugulu estate to pay a watchful eye and report any suspicious people in the area to the police. Other high profile guests who graced the Palm Valley Inaugural Ladies Open Golf Tournament included Fisheries State Minister Hon. Ruth Nakabirwa and Works state minister Hon. John Byabagambi.

    Renown standup comedian Pablo lightened up the day with his jokes.

    Silver Category Nett:

    Palm Valley Lady Captain Mbaguta Gloria was winner after she returned 161 nett while Asiimwe  Evelyne was Runner up with 162 Nett.

    Bronze Category Nett.

    Uganda ladies Golf Union Vice President Naikomba Samalie scooped the bronze prize after she returned 158 nett while Kesime Stella was gross winner with 214 gross.

    Nakalembe Irene 92 gross

    Subsidiary men’s category.

    Ngabo francis topped group A with 28 points he beat National team captain Kasozi Phillip on countback who could only settle for first runner up position.

    Muhereza Allan returned a total of 33 points to top group B while Mujuni Peter returned 40 points to top group C. Topping group D was Byaryamujura Moses who returned 41 points.

     

    Professional Category:

    Entebbe club’s Opio Silver returned 71 gross to beat six other Pros, he received a cash prize of Shs.3m that had been staked by the sponsors.
