
Despite beginning the 2017 Edition of the Entebbe Airport league tournament as clear under-dogs who would be eliminated in the early stages, the cargo clearing team (UCIFA) battled it’s way out in the quarterfinal stages and on Wednesday, they shocked a better organized and experienced Aviation Police side (AVIPOL) 4-1 on penalty shootouts after 1-1 aggregate score in the semifinals. UCIFA side banked their hopes on goalie Eric Ocaya who played an exceptional role right from the start of the tournament thanks to his shot stopping skills.
Protea Hotel team who are just a stone throw away from Entebbe Airport progressed to the finals after they knocked out hard fighting defending champions Fresh Handling 3-1 on aggregate score.
The Epic final clash between UCIFA and Protea Hotel will be held next Month in October.
Aviation Police (AVIPOL) and Fresh Handling will play for the 3rd place (Losers Match) which will also be held next month in October.

Tom Byarugaba, the Entebbe Airport League Chairman congratulated both UCIFA and Protea for their victories and called on all the losers to accept defeat and prepare well for next championship.
“I would congratulate both UCIFA and Protea Hotel for their victories and to the losers; my appeal to you is to accept defeat and prepare well for the next championship. The overall objective of the Airport stake holders league is to enhance relations among the different organizations operating at Entebbe International Airport. Our task as a committee is to ensure that we persuade other organizations at Entebbe Airport to participate in the league”, Byarugaba Tom remarked.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Das, Air force (UPDAF) and Lake Victoria Hotel were knocked out in the quarterfinal stages.
