The 6th round of the National Motocross Championship is set to get underway on Sunday at Extreme Sports Park in Garuga.
The event dubbed the Motocross Shakedown, will split one heat to incorporate MX1, MX2, MX65cc and MX85cc classes.
10-year-old Zimbabwean Motocross prodigy, Kuda Mhene will feature as the event’s guest rider in the 85cc category, competing against Uganda’s championship leader Ali Omar Yasser, Alestair Blick, Paddy Blick, Wazir Omar and John Schrier.
The fifth round of this championship saw Ali Omar carry the day with 54 points in 85cc, while John Schrier finished first runner up with 43 points.
65cc fifth round champion Fortune Ssentamu who returns from showcasing skills in Rwanda, Waleed Omar, Joshua Mwangala and Vince Schrier will vie for the top spot to dethrone leader Ben Nsumba.
The fence of the track is to be upgraded before Sunday to improve the safety and security of the competitors and fans, a condition required by the international Motocross governing body, International Motorcycling Federation (FIM).
IAA Health/ Resolution Health, AON Insurance, Safe Solutions, Fotogenix, New Era Hotel Munyonyo and Mountain Dew have sponsored the event.
