The South Africa based ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party fraternity has expressed it’s 100 percent agreement with the amendment of article 102(b) in the constitution that bars any Ugandan above the age of 75 years from contesting as a Presidential Candidate. Speaking exclusively to entebbenews, John Mungyereza, the coordinator NRM South Africa Chapter and Diaspora executive member clearly stated that the removal of the age limit in the constitution is timely stressing that age shouldn’t be a prerequisite for any candidate aspiring to contest for the Presidency.

Mungyereza disclosed that though President Museveni is clocking 75 years, he has continued to prove that he still has the stamina and potential to lead Ugandans and above all fast track the East African community integration process, a project that once finalized will give Uganda leverage. Mungyereza also revealed that right from the bush war days, President Museveni has continuously played a unifying role in the army and among the NRM Party Members.

“We as NRM Supporters in South Africa want to express our commitment to President Yoweri Museveni, our Party Chairman and we highly support the removal of the age limit in the constitution because we want Mzee to contest again in the 2021 Presidential elections. Mzee’s stay in power has been a success with the economy growing steadily, improvement in security and above all Mzee’s government has granted us total freedom of expression and speech. Significant strides have been made in the infrastructural and energy sector such as the construction of new roads across the country, the extension of electricity to the rural areas and the successful exploration of oil in the Albertine region. Of course there are challenges like corruption that has derailed service delivery, rising youth unemployment and household poverty need to be addressed”, Mungyereza who is also a resident of Katabi-Busambaga in Entebbe Municipality told entebbenews.
