The promoter behind Kabuye Semboga’s maiden concert, Balunywa Promotions, has revealed that the concert did not meet his expectations, given the amount invested.
In a TV interview, Balunywa revealed that he approached Kabuye Semboga and suggested that he help stage this show. This was his first-ever concert, despite having spent 42 years in the music industry.
Promoter Balunywa revealed that, based on their investment, the concert did not attract the much-needed audience as expected. He, however, noted that the attendees were his genuine fans, and he was glad that he had made Kabuye Semboga’s dream of holding his first-ever concert come true.
“Going by how much we put in and the expectation, we did not get back the money. But I’m satisfied that at least he had a concert. Kabuye called me at night and thanked me so much for whatever I did. He said his children were so happy and prayed for me even when he knew things did not turn out as expected. He said God will repay me” he said.
Following the concert’s culmination, a section of netizens took to their social media handles to criticize the event. Many claimed that the singer was too weak and sickly to perform; most of the time, he would forget his songs and would be assisted by Simon, who was providing backup vocals.

Balunywa confessed that Ssemboga was naturally weak but had been rehearsing, and everything was going well. He only became anxious when he stepped onto the stage.

Balunywa, however, called out critics, asking them to show grace to Ssemboga because of his age. He encouraged music lovers to celebrate and support him, rather than criticizing his performance.
“We have been rehearsing all this while and he was doing well. But naturally as a person, he is very weak. When we got to the stage, just like any normal person, he got anxious. What they saw on stage is not what was in the rehearsals. I also felt it. But people who are criticizing him for that are very wrong because he is aged.
I think people should just celebrate him and what he was able to put up. I believe every person that came through was there to support him and not to criticize,” he said.
