Outspoken social and political analyst Frank M Gashumba has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) at Kibuli, Kampala, asking its Director, AIGP Major Tom Magambo, to investigate Pastor Robert Kayanja over alleged threats of violence against his life and family.
In a letter dated October 30, 2026, Gashumba accused Pastor Kayanja of making threatening remarks against him and his family, claiming that the statements were captured in videos circulating on various online media platforms.
He further alleged that Kayanja appeared visibly angry and confidently threatened his life, reportedly saying that he would die violently, just like the late Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi.
Explaining the events that allegedly triggered the confrontation, Gashumba said he had appeared on a radio programme in October to discuss religious leaders he believes exploit poor and unsuspecting members of the public.
He insisted he did not name Kayanja or single out any particular pastor, but instead based his discussion on biblical teachings about false prophets.

“In October, I was hosted on a radio programme discussing false prophets who exploit the poor and unsuspecting public. I did not mention ‘Pastor’ Robert Kayanja. I did not single out any pastor. I preached generally from the words of Jesus about wolves in sheep’s clothing, as stated in Matthew 7:15,” Gashumba wrote.
He alleged that the following day, Kayanja turned the matter into a personal confrontation, accusing the pastor of publicly cursing and threatening his life and that of his family.
Gashumba said he was taking the alleged threats seriously, adding that although he could not rule out the possibility of someone being organised to harm him, he feared that the pastor’s alleged public threats could translate into violence carried out behind the scenes.

“To the shock of decent and right-thinking people, Kayanja is on record cursing and threatening my life and the life of my family with violence and death. We do not take those threats lightly.”
“There is a lot that I have never said about Kayanja, but based on what I know about him, I assure you God cannot answer any of Kayanja’s prayers. Even the devil himself cannot bother giving Kayanja his attention. His behaviour is already public knowledge, and it is not godly. But I cannot rule out that a man who can curse on record can also organise thugs off record to harm me,” he added.
