
Police in Entebbe has recovered an AK47 gun with two rounds of ammunition while the unidentified suspect eluded arrest and fled away from the crime scene.
The Entebbe Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Godfrey Ninsiima said the gun was recovered at 4am in the wee hours of Monday morning following a foiled robbery at Arena Sports Bar in Namulanda zone, Wakiso district.
He noted that on the fateful morning he received a phone call at 4am by one of the partiers in the bar informing him that unidentified robber had attacked them and put them on a gun point demanding cash and in turn he (DPC) responded by informing the officer in charge of Kisubi police who hastily visited the scene of crime and foiled the
would be robbery after overpowering the assailant.
He disclosed that after overpowering the robber he dumped the AK47 gun serial number UG PSO-32-00371-04262 belonging to one of the private security agencies and the gun is currently kept in the police custody.
He added that the robber who is currently on run has so far executed three successful robberies in areas of Kisubi, Namulanda and Kawuku and police managed to foil the fourth one as he eluded arrest.
Ninsiima revealed that the suspect who is at large usually targets bars, mobile money outlets and hard ware shops and normally puts his victims on gun point before robbing them clean.
He said it’s now four months ever since police started hunting down the suspect and that if netted he would be brought to book over aggravated robbery under police file number SDREF: 03/14/11/2016.
DPC Ninsiima called upon private security agencies that could have
lost their guns to unscrupulous persons to come to Entebbe police
station for verification.
