Uganda Police has spoken out on the assault against veteran musician and presidential advisor Full Figure that happened last week.
In the press statement issued by the Deputy Police Spokesperson, Onyango Patrick, confirmed Full Figure’s assault, and ACP Kituuma elaborated on it further this morning.
ACP Kituuma reported that they received a video that was circulating on social media showing some individuals assaulting somebody who appeared to be Full Figure. The victim later made a complaint, and as a result, the police decided to investigate the matter.
There were reports that the person behind the assault was a media personality and former flag bearer of Masaka District Woman Member of Parliament, Justine Nameere, together with her husband. ACP Kituuma promised to bring the culprit to justice.
“Our routines are very clear; if somebody accuses you, then you must explain. Whereas I may not have the details of how far they have gone but I can predict that whoever she accuses for having assaulted her, we shall treat him or her the way we treat suspects in those offenses. We shall bring you to the police station to have an explanation against the allegations against you. If the evidence is cogent, we shall process you and take you to court,” he said.
One journalist present at the press conference posed a question about Full Figure’s actions online and how she had not been reprimanded despite numerous complaints.
ACP Kituuma revealed that it was all social media propaganda, and as police, they hadn’t received any reports about it. He advised he journalist to verify his allegations.
“I have told you the risk of listening to social media. You do not have facts about how many cases, where and which are they? If you feel you are one of them, you act like her. Go to the police, reach out and if they fail to work on your case, escalate the matter. It is a disciplinary case if the police officer fails,” he continued.
Full Figure remains in the hospital receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained during the assault.
