At one point Patience Mubangizi was favourite to win the NRM Member of parliament flag bearer ticket for Entebbe Municipality but her aspirations and top status in the NRM Party hit a snag when Brad Fabrice Rulinda joined the race with a bang and altered the political landscape. Mubangizi has since lost the political lime light that she used to enjoy and has bitterly fallen out with several NRM Party members who have accused her of being arrogant and highly temperamental. She has on several occasions also been accused of sympathizing with former NRM Party Secretary General Hon. Amama Mbabazi though she has consistently denied the allegations. Entebbenews brings you some of her sworn enemies who have vowed to ensure that her political aspirations fail miserably.
*Sherry Kalyeebala*.
She is number one on the list of Mubangizi’s enemies. The two bitterly fell out when Sherry crossed to Rulinda’s camp. This angered Mubangizi who felt betrayed by one of her closest friends and allies. Sherry who spoke to entebbenews in a past interview indicated that Mubangizi’s abusiveness and arrogance forced her to defect to Rulinda’s camp to better her chances of being elected as LCV Women councilor Wakiso District.
“I decided to defect to Rulinda’s camp because his image isn’t tainted by scandals and fights. My political future was at stake if I remained in Mubangizi’s camp. Many NRM Party members had vowed not to elect anyone working with Mubangizi, so I couldn’t risk my political future” Sherry reasoned.
Mubangizi bashed Sherry and accused her of being money hungry and only interested in detoothing Rulinda who is throwing money around. She also stressed that Sherry’s departure didn’t have any consequence in her camp and that she is better off without her. Their feud deepened recently when Mubangizi stormed Sherry’s residence and told her to surrender a dress she had given her and other items in addition to exchanging bitterly. The two who once behaved like sisters now no longer see eye to eye and are intent on spilling each other’s secrets.
*Capt.Barbara Barungi*.
Captain Barbara Barungi is the iron lady and political commissar in the Special Forces command (SFC) Entebbe. Mubangizi has accused Barbara of failing to offer solutions to the challenges facing NRM Candidates and instead clandestinely gives more attention to aspirants who are loaded and have the cash to splash around. The two rarely shake hands.
*Brad Fabrice Rulinda*.
Brad Fabrice Rulinda is the new face in the NRM Party who has given Mubangizi sleepless nights and headache in the last few months. He has managed to alter the political landscape in Entebbe and breathed new life into the NRM Party thanks to his cash taps. He has got everyone talking in Entebbe including Patience Mubangizi who has accused him of not publicly declaring his true source of cash. Mubangizi has linked him to a wider international gay community that could be funding his political campaigns because he has no proven job. Rulinda has consistently denied the allegations and stressed that his source of cash is legitimate. At one point Mubangizi is believed to have ordered for an investigation into Rulinda’s source of cash. Rulinda has dismissed Mubangizi’s allegations as idle talk in several NRM Functions.
*RDC Rose Mary Kirabira*.
Entebbe Municipality Resident District Commissioner Rose Mary Kirabira and Patience Mubangizi rarely shake hands and hug each other. A highly placed source revealed that Mubangizi was on the RDC’s neck to use her power and influence to let other aspirants quit the race and leave her to sail through unopposed. Kirabira refused to be part of her whims and as a result the two rarely share pleasantries. To make matters worse Fabrice Rulinda is in RDC Kirabira’s good books.
*Peace Salamuka*.
Peace Salamuka was originally in Patience Mubangizi’s campaign team and had previously set her eyes on the LCV Women Seat. She broke ranks with Mubangizi camp and decided to give a short at the parliamentary seat. Mubangizi went on to accuse her of being funded by wealthy Forum for Democratic Change sympathizers who want her to spoil her votes during the party primaries.
*Former Mayor Stephen Kabuye*.
He is the former Mayor of Entebbe Municipality. He has been at loggerheads with Patience Mubangizi for a very long time. Mubangizi has accused Kabuye of failing to promote the NRM Party and aspiring candidates in the upcoming elections as party chairman Entebbe Municipality. Mubangizi has consistently attacked Kabuye of failing to open an NRM Party office for all the years he served as Mayor and as a result she recently opened an NRM office located next to the works play ground to mobilize support for her candidature.
*Rose Tumusiime*
Rose Tumusiime is a veteran NRM LCIV Councilor Nakasamba ward and widow to the Late Edward Tumusiime who passed away early last year. Mubangizi accused Tumusiime together with NRM Publicity secretary Ssefunka Tamuzadde of misappropriating Shs 1.5 million that Municipal council handed to them to organize the liberation day celebrations that were held early this year in Kigungu. Tumusiime who is also eyeing the Entebbe Municipality parliamentary seat denied the accusations and hasn’t shaken hands with Mubangizi in a very long time.
*Hon. Amon Muzoora Reeves*.
Honourable Amon Muzoora Reeves is the former Rwampara Member of Parliament in Mbarara. Hon. Muzoora’s differences with Mubangizi emanate way back in the 2011 elections when Muzoora accused Mubangizi of rigging the NRM Party primaries and robbed him of his hard earned victory. Mubangizi has accused Muzoora of being crafty after he allegedly duped close to 1500 students in a fake bursaries scheme at Nkumba University during the 2010 NRM Party primaries.
*Robert Tibamanya*.
Robert Tibamanya is the vocal Entebbe NRM youth leader who has a lot of influence because of his mobilization skills. Together with other youth leaders Gertrude Nabitete and Mariam Nalwonga they detest Mubangizi and cannot share the same table. They have accused her of harassing them because they don’t support her. Tibamanya previously campaigned for Mubangizi in the 2011 elections and now backs Fabrice Rulinda as party flag bearer in the parliamentary seat.
*Harriet Babirye*.
She is the current LCI Chairman Kiwafu Central and a staunch NRM diehard who detests Mubangizi. She entirely backs Rose Tumusiime for the parliamentary seat.
*Matovu Edirisa (Figo)*
He is an influential Muslim chief in Entebbe and a diehard NRM Supporter who has never greeted Mubangizi ever since she rose to the political scene in Entebbe. Figo has consistently accused her of running a smear campaign and mudslinging other NRM aspirants. Figo fully backs Fabrice Rulinda in the parliamentary race.
