

For the first time in three decades of the NRM, Entebbe Municipality elected it’s first female Member Of Parliament who will lead Uganda’s former capital in Parliament. NRM’s Rose Mary Bikaako Tumusiime was declared winner of the Entebbe Municipality Parliamentary race on Saturday by Wakiso District Returning officer Sarah Bukirwa after she garnered a total of 8786 votes beating her closest opponent the Democratic Party flag bearer Michael Kakembo (Mbwatekamwa) who bagged a total of 8337 votes. In third position was FDC’s Gitta Alex who bagged a total of 2371 votes. In fourth and fifth place were independents Madinah Zalwango and Walusimbi Abubaker who collected 1874 and 1635 votes respectively. Patience Mubangizi (independent) finished in sixth position with 1063 votes while Charles Kirumira (independent) finished in seventh position with 872 votes. Other candidates in the race included John Baleke (Independent) 541 votes, Archilles Kiwanuka (Independent) 503 votes, Kalle Michael (Independent) 338 votes, Muzoora Amon Reeeves (Independent) 212 votes and Arthur Ssenfuma (Independent) 214 votes, Ambrose Kantutu (Independent) 135 votes.
Total number of valid votes cast for candidates 26881, total number of rejected (Invalid) ballot papers 925, total number of ballot papers counted 27806, spoiled ballot papers 60.
In her victory speech Rose Tumusiime thanked all those who voted for her and promised to serve the people of Entebbe Municipality regardless of political party affiliation and tribe.
I would like to thank all those including opposition supporters who voted for me. I promise to work with everyone who is development-oriented and don’t backslide because the electoral process isn’t yet done. Let’s all rise up and Vote for Mayoral Candidate Joseph Ssesanga and other NRM Flag bearers. I urge you to remain calm and peaceful as we continue with the electoral process, A Jovial Rose Tumusiime said.


Meanwhile former mayor Stephen Kabuye who now serves as the Entebbe Municipality NRM Chairman applauded Ugandans for adding President Museveni another five year term and urged the people to triple their energy because the elections aren’t yet over.
Let’s thank God for Rose Tumusiime who has opened the door for the NRM in Entebbe. Let’s triple our energy, don’t get tired because we still have to vote for Mayoral Candidate Joseph Ssesanga and other NRM Flag bearers at all levels in the next elections, a smiling Stephen Kabuye said.
Rose Tumsiime a Mutooro takes over from outgoing Member Of Parliament Hon. Muhammad Kawuma who has served for two terms from 2006-2011, 2011-2016.

Meanwhile a reliable source has intimated that Michael Kakembo who had earlier on conceded defeat and congratulated Rose Tumusiime for emerging winner of the parliamentary race will now challenge her victory in the courts of law in the next couple of days.
Of course Michael Kakembo will contest Rose Tumusiime’s victory in the courts of law. Some of his agents were harassed at various polling stations and they were cases of vote rigging, a source close Kakembo Michael told entebbenews on condition of anonymity.
