The Former Busiro South Constituency Member of Parliament aspirant, Grace Nakamanya Kayondo and an 80year-old man Sam Kikulwe, were both grilled at Kajjansi police station for trespassing and encroaching on a piece of land belonging to businessman Vincent Kibirige Nakalagu. The disputed land measures half an acre and it’s located in Kasali village, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso district.
The businessman accuses the duo of trespassing and constructing a four roomed house on his land which he inherited from his late father Elia Nakalagu who also inherited it from his grandfather Kasule Nakalagu.
In his statement at police, businessman Kibirige told police that he has been mining stones at the disputed land since 1964 but to his surprise he was shocked to see MP flop Nakamanya and Mugumya claiming that they bought this disputed land from mzee Sam Kikulwe who has been guarding the stone quarry housing the disputed land.
However, during a mediation meeting at Kajjansi police on Thursday, the accused party and the accuser disagreed on how to resolve the land dispute and the Kajjansi OC CIID boss resolved to forward the file to Kajjansi State Attorney for legal advice or sanctioning. The accused persons were released on police bond and ordered to stop construction at the disputed land till court decides on the matter.
The Kajjansi police CIID boss confirmed that a case of criminal trespass has been registered against the accused persons under police file number SDREF: 34/17/07/2017.
