Five Ruling National Resistance Movement youth leaders identified as Robert Tibamanya, Joshua Kutesa, Arnold Mubiru, Hassan Wasswa and the Entebbe Municipality Division ‘A’ LCV Councilor Wamala Richard Lule have today Wednesday been granted bail by the Entebbe Magistrate Mastula Namulondo. The five NRM Youth leaders were remanded to Kigo Prison on Monday after their sureties failed to secure bail under unclear circumstances. The poor boys are being accused of assaulting three Journalists identified as Kigongo Sebalamu (Bukedde TV reporter), George Kakooza (CBS) and Bukedde Godfrey Ssempijja (Bukedde News Paper) during the youth polls that were held at Entebbe Municipal Council on March 4.
The youth are out of Kigo Prisons and are back in Kitooro after their sureties successfully paid the Shs5m cash bail.
Speaking after their release the youth have denied assaulting the mentioned journalists and indicated that it is just mere allegations.
We as the NRM youth have never assaulted any Journalist and all those accusations are mere allegations but of course we are reliably informed that the Journalists are being used to fight us. We want to inform them and their sponsors that we are ready for war, Robert Tibamanya stated.
The youth hailed all the NRM Party leaders, Area MP Hon. Rose Tumusiime and well wishers for standing with them. They are expected to report back in court on August 24 for hearing.
