National Resistance Movement Party Mobilisation Chief Grace Bagaya has warned party members to shun intrigue and mudslinging ahead of the 2016 polls. The NRM Mobilisation Chief who was speaking at the launch of NRM Bursaries program in Entebbe on Saturday said that intrigue was killing the party and urged members to work together to promote the party at the grass root level ahead of the 2016 polls. The former Nakasongola Member of Parliament also warned party members to avoid running as independent candidates after being defeated in the primaries.
“We shall not tolerate independents this time. If you are defeated in the primaries, accept defeat and move on. You can serve in other capacities” she said. She blasted the opposition for lack of alternative policies to fight unemployment among the youth.
“The opposition hasn’t provided alternative policies on poverty eradication. They criticize the NRM just for the sake” she added.
Meanwhile aspiring Busiro South MP Grace Nakamanya Kayondo blasted party members who behave like prostitutes only interested in cash and not promoting the party.
Katabi NRM Mobilisation Chief and Bursaries coordinator Amina Jaffari scoffed at her critics who have been accusing her for using the bursaries program for her own selfish whims.
“I have never pocketed any coin from the bursaries project. This project is meant for the vulnerable who cannot afford to pay for the costly Education” she said.
Amina who is targeting the Katabi LCII Seat urged party members to avoid cliques and intrigue and instead work towards promoting the NRM.
“We have offered bursaries to 140 needy students in Entebbe from primary, secondary, university and other tertiary institutions through the Direct Link Bursaries agency” Amina a former FDC diehard who crossed to the NRM in 2010 stated.
National patron and NRM Political Mobiliser Zainab Muwonge disclosed that the aim of the bursaries is to link the NRM to the village level.
“We have offered bursaries to 10,000 needy students. It’s a non tribal non partisan program so I appeal to Ugandans out there to embrace the program” Zainab who is also the presidential Advisor on Local Councils stated.
