Scoring a hat trick and a brace Mutesa Royal’s Hassan Luboyera piled misery on Braza Braza which lost 10-2 in the Pepsi Beach Soccer league which resumed on Sunday November 16 at Lido Beach Entebbe. Ruhinda Julius netted four goals while Kimera Julius scored one goal to give Mutesa Royal a decisive victory in the monsoon group fixture. Braza Braza’s Musa Ssali managed to score a brace for his side.
In other monsoon group fixture, Nicholas Kamya scored two goals while Matia Olum and Deo Kabombo netted a goal each to secure a 4-2 win over stormers. Stormers’ consolation came from Misi Katende and dread locked Johnson Akileng.
Fresh from winning the Inter-University Beach soccer League title MUBS were held to 3-3 draw by Galaxy FM sponsored Real Galacticos. Davis Elvis Kasujja’s double and Brian Nkuubi scored for MUBS before Ibrahim Ssekatawa and Saidi Latif’s brace leveled for the Galacticos.
Real Galacticos were in action without banned play maker, Abdul ‘Alvaro’ Karim who is out for one year over assaulting a referee.The Beach soccer competitions is yet to pronounce its position on why penalties were not taken to determine the match winner as ruled by the FIFA Beach soccer rules and regulations.
Elsewhere, Joseph Nyenje registered a hat trick to inspire Talented to a 4 – 2 win over Zaba Super Market. Ronnie Kiggundu scored the other goal for Talented before Jonathan Kikomeko and Nasser Muzamiru’s strikes turned to be mere consolation goals for Zaba.
Hurriken group:
Last season’s runners up, Nkumba Select won 8 – 5 in their fixture over Kampala International University (KIU), who had Vipers F.C goal custodian, Ismail Watenga keeping their goal posts.
Nkumba Select forward , Roch Somoka and Douglas Muganga each netted a hat trick before Allan Zirimenya and Yassar Mugerwa added one goal each.
KIU too had a hat trick hero in their burly skipper, Ismail Kagingo before Bright Haguma and the ‘usual suspect’ Geofrey Akabwai had a goal each.
Dalumba Success:
Dalumba Richmond edged International University of East Africa (IUEA) 4 – 5 in a tense and closely contested affair.
Muzafaru Ssenyonjo netted a hat trick for Dalumba before long term skipper, Paul Lwere and John Opejo sealed their victory.
Kato Benard (2), Isaac Tumusiime and Abe Eturide were on the score sheet for IUEA.
Kayunga Town Council walloped former Winners St Lawrence 6 – 1 in the biggest shock of the day.
Kayunga scored through Hamimu Ssemakula (2), Peter Wasswa, Frank Bomboka, Ibrahim Lubwama and Pius Mbidde’s own goal.
Beach soccer all time leading goal scorer, Phillip Rwezaula colored the score line a beautiful second look with St Lawrence’s consolation.
The best four teams per group will play in the quarter finals after the group stage games to be followed by semi finals and finals to determine the winners.
Kira Young, who pulled out of this year’s championship is the league defending champion.
