Mayor Vincent Kayanja DePaul has scoffed at Honorable Mohamed Kawuma over his baseless allegations that he and Entebbe Municipal council officials conspired and sold off Kiwafu Play Ground land to Tycoon Karim Hirji. Kayanja who was speaking at a consultative forum held on Saturday in Lugojo Nakiwogo revealed that he isn’t stupid and mad to sell off Kiwafu Play Ground land adding that in his 2011 campaign manifesto he promised to protect and preserve all municipal council land and properties.
“I worked with Kawuma for a very long time he always advised me to tell lies and mudsling people if I wanted to get ahead. I out rightly rejected his style of politics. His aim is to ensure that we fail but I can assure you (residents) that I’m a survivor and we shall not allow Kawuma and his group to create confusion and disunity in Entebbe’ Kayanja said.
Kayanja also blamed LCI Chairman Lugojo Nakiwogo Paul Zikuliza for masterminding land thefts in the area and urged the residents to vote out unscrupulous and corrupt leaders in next year’s general elections.
“Zikuliza is responsible and should be held to account for all the land thefts in the area. We shall continue to work with you to arrest all land grabbers in Entebbe” Kayanja stated.
“The time for politicking has come. They will deceive you with money and then you will sell your vote. I urge you to be steady as we start the election period. Receive their money but don’t vote them” he said.
Kayanja also appealed to the youth to shun alcohol (Kaveera), sports betting and ‘Matatu’ and instead concentrate on investing their small savings in productive ventures. He urged the youth to engage in mushroom growing adding that the market was readily available.
“We have surveyed all the 32 municipal council properties and we have managed to secure titles for some while the rest are still in the process” Kayanja noted.
