Independent Go-forward Presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi has once again called on his supporters to remain steadfast and focused ahead of the February 18 polls. Mbabazi who was speaking during the 93.3 KFM Hot Seat Talk show on Monday lashed out at President Museveni for using state machinery to intimidate his supporters.
It is really shocking that President Museveni and the NRM Party are intimidating my supporters but I want to assure all my supporters to remain stead fast and focused because those who use intimidation are the ones who are actually intimidated and afraid. Mbabazi stated.
He added:
I want to appeal to all my campaign teams to continue mobilizing people at all levels and giving them a message of hope that change is possible.
Mbabazi regretted his participation in the removal of term limits in 2005 to allow President Museveni stay in power. He vowed to restore term limits once elected into office.
He pledged to be a transitional leader who will handle over power peacefully to the next generation.
It’s high time we had a peaceful transition because change in Uganda has always come with violence and I appeal to all Ugandans to elect me as President to lead the transition to a young generation. Mbabazi stressed.
He also promised to increase the salary of the security personnel including army and police. He also pledged to give teachers and health workers salary increment. He pledged to build more descent accommodation for the security and armed forces that are currently living in uniports popularly known as ‘Mama yigiya pole’.
Our soldiers will get descent accommodation because they are living in very deplorable conditions. Majority of the police officers are good though there are a few bad ones who are spoiling the name of the institution. He noted.
He concluded with a rallying call to all Ugandans to turn up in large numbers on February 18 and cast their ballot because according to him the upcoming elections are a referendum on whether Uganda changes or remains more of the same.
