Richard Serwadda, a property master dealing in land transactions in Mpala zone and Hakim Kizza, the vice chairperson of Namulanda LC1 zone in Katabi Town Council, were on Friday evening charged with four counts and remanded to Kigo prison for duping Shs 50m from Aisha Muhammed, a business woman.

The duo appeared before Entebbe Grade one Magistrate Mastulah Mulondo, who indicted them with four counts including obtaining money by false pretense, conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery and criminal trespass.

Prosecution led by Chris Muganzi heard that on 24, April, 2017 at Namulanda zone, Richard Serwadda 31, a resident of Mpala zone and Hakim Kizza 34, the vice chairperson of Namulanda LC1 zone, defrauded Shs 50m from Aisha Muhammed purporting to sell to her land measuring approximately(100 X 100 fit) with a house.

Prosecution also alleges that on 24, June, 2017 at Namulanda zone, the duo and others at large conspired to get money amounting to Shs 50m from Aisha Muhammed in pretext of selling land to her.

It’s also alleged that on 24, June, 2017, the duo conspired to forge a sales agreement dated 6, June, 2012 purporting that Kiwanuka Kisoko sold the said land to Richard Serwadda.

Prosecution further avers that on 24, April 2017 at Namulanda zone in Wakiso district, the duo and others at large trespassed on land belonging to Frank Sebanenya and Mary Babirye with intent to annoy them.

While taking plea in the court chambers, the duo denied all the four counts imposed against them and each presented two sureties in court so that court grants them bail.

However, the Magistrate denied them bail after prosecution Lawyer asked court to give him ample time to amend the charge sheet and that investigations into the matter are still going on.

In turn, the Magistrate remanded the duo till 3 July 2017, when they will return to court for hearing of their bail application. The Magistrate also issued a warrant of arrest to apprehend the duo’s accused who include Ben Kaweesa and Rogers Sendi who are currently on the run.
