A 45-year-old woman has been arrested by police in Kabale for allegedly conniving with her children, who are on the run, to kill her 35 years old husband.
Evas Nkwasa, a resident of Kigarama B in Ryakarimira Town Council in Kabale District is reported to have connived with her two sons Isaac Kiiza and Barnet Niwamanya to kill her husband Bosco Niwagaba.
Ms Nkwasa had mothered the two boys before she married Bosco
Canon Enock Kazooba the Ryakarimira Town Council LCIII chairperson narrated that Niwagaba was hit on the head with either an axe or a hand hoe.
This, according to locals, was after he picked a fight with his wife over money they had collected from a bar they jointly owned near their home.
In the heat of the argument, the children reportedly came to rescue their mother. Kiiza, the eldest son reportedly picked the weapon and hit his step father in the head.
Canon Kazooba, says a neighbour identified as Ms Black made an alarm and locals came to rescue Niwagaba but they found him unconscious.
He was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital from where he was declared dead.
Kazooba says after notifying Police, he commanded a team of locals in an operation to arrest the suspects, but by the time they arrived, Kiiza and Barnet had taken off. Their mother was apprehended and detained at Ryakarimira Town Council Police Post, before she was transferred to Kabale Police Station.
Spencer January who is an uncle to the deceased told our reporter that Nkwasa had attempted to kill her husband on several occasions over other reasons.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident. He said the Scene of Crime Officers arrived at the scene and picked the exhibits for further investigation.
