Ugandan singer Joshua Baraka made an emotional return to his roots in Kawempe, spearheading a powerful community outreach initiative dubbed Just Believe Day that impacted more than 1,000 families.

Held at Kazo Playground, the event brought together residents in a vibrant mix of music, empowerment, and humanitarian support. The atmosphere was both celebratory and heartfelt, with children dancing, youth showcasing talent, and families receiving essential aid packages.

Through the Just Believe Foundation, Baraka and his team distributed food supplies, beverages, and sanitary items to vulnerable groups, including mothers, children, and the elderly. The initiative aimed not only to meet immediate needs but also to restore dignity and hope.

“This place raised me,” Baraka shared during the event. “Kawempe made me who I am. Coming back here is not just charity, it’s a responsibility.”

Having grown up in Kawempe, the artist emphasized his deep connection to the community and his understanding of its challenges.

A key highlight of Just Believe Day was its focus on youth empowerment. In collaboration with AUMEX, young creatives participated in a skills development program aimed at turning talent into sustainable careers.

Music professional Abaasa led a masterclass covering critical topics such as copyright, branding, digital marketing, and financial literacy, areas often overlooked by emerging artists.

The playground quickly transformed into a creative hub, featuring rap battles, freestyle sessions, and live performances that showcased the raw talent within the community.

Contributors, including Miss Uganda Trivia Muhooza, commended the project for addressing real community needs and driving meaningful change.

Following the success of Just Believe Day, Baraka announced plans to expand the initiative to other underserved communities across Uganda.

“This is just the start,” he said. “We want to reach more communities across the country, especially those that need it most.”

At the same time, the artist is preparing to take his music global, with upcoming tour stops in Europe and Canada. Despite his international ambitions, Baraka remains grounded in the message shaped by his upbringing.

“It’s not just about the music,” he said. “It’s about how many lives you can touch.”
