Irene Nakalembe swung to victory at the Castle Lite Entebbe Ladies Open Golf Tournament held on Saturday at the par 71 Golf Course. Playing 36 holes Nakalembe returned a total of 158 Gross to emerge overall winner out of the 24 ladies who participated in the Entebbe Ladies Open 5th Edition. She returned 74 Gross on day one Friday while her closest challenger UPDF Sergeant Namakula Flavia only returned 79 Gross.
“My game was smooth; I was driving, putting and chipping well. My putting was not bad though I had a terrible game today” a jovial Nakalembe told entebbenews.
“I feel proud to win the Entebbe ladies Open Golf Tournament. I’m proud of my club Entebbe, the club members who have encouraged
me throughout the tournament and I hope to win more tournaments for my club” Nakalembe added.
“I played with Flavia Namakula whom I had never played with before. She is a good and competitive player, she is reliable, has the team spirit. I’ll continue playing scratch to keep reducing my handicap which is currently at 05” she stated.
Irene Nakalembe becomes the first Lady Golfer to win the Entebbe Ladies Open Golf Tournament dethroning 2014 Edition winner Monica Ntege who returned 151 Nett to finish as Group A Runner up. .
Playing Golf handicap 01 UPDF Sergeant Flavia Namakula finished runners up with 160 gross. She beat Magala Eva on countback who finished first runner up.
Day one (Friday) Namakula returned 79 Gross while on day two (Saturday) she returned 81 Gross.
“I’m happy for Irene for winning the Tournament. I had a comfortable lead but I faltered on the 17th hole. I’m disappointed, I could have done better” a disappointed Namakula remarked.
