Ladies and Gentlemen before I say anything, let’s all stand up and we observe a moment of silence to my late husband Edward Tumusiime. You know he is the one who persuaded me to join politics. May his soul Rest in Peace.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all today and in a very special way I would like to welcome Hon. Madina Zalwango, she has come to celebrate with us. Thank you so much Madina for coming to celebrate with us. I would like to thank you all, I know today (Wednesday) has been a working day but I’m glad that you have all come.
Also in a special way allow me thank each and every person who mobilized votes for the NRM Party. Let me also thank each and everyone who mobilized votes for our elder President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Thank you for adding him another ‘Kisanja’ (five year term).
I also want to thank you for trusting me. We (NRM) have finished ten years ever since the parliamentary seat went to the opposition but let us all thank Hon. Muhammad Kawuma because he left Democratic Party and ‘got saved’. He came and joined us on the campaign trail; we worked as a team and got the victory. We passed through hard times but today I’m overjoyed and have no way of describing my happiness. We have been on the campaign trail but my brothers and sisters I’ve been on the cross like Jesus Christ but I want to tell you one thing that I’m a strong woman and no one can intimidate me.
Today I would like to inform each and everyone here. I want to assure Kakembo Michael Mbwatekamwa and His worship the Mayor that leadership comes from God and for that matter I swear in the name of God that I’ll walk out of court with victory. I’ve always told you that I walk with God and reaching this far it’s not that I was the most beautiful but I’ve reached this far because of God’s love and Mercy.
My humble appeal to all of you is that let’s all work hard so that NRM fully bounces back. But how will NRM Bounce back?
The Mayoral seat was snatched from us but some people amongst us claimed Joseph Ssesanga is an old man. There is no way I’ll work if I don’t have the Divisional Chairmen (A & B). At this material time, the Mayor is moving around and convincing the electorate to vote Democratic Party Flag bearers because he knows I’ll give him headache and sleepless nights. I cannot work alone. Let me take this opportunity and officially introduce our flag bearers Michael Mutebi (Division ‘A’) and Sempala Twaha (Division ‘B’) Kindly vote for them.
For a very long time people have been accusing us (old generation) that we don’t want to leave leadership but this time we’ve brought the young generation. There is no way we shall benefit from government programs if we don’t vote for the NRM divisional chairmen. I want to inform you that Council took several youth to China but none was from Entebbe. All the youth were from Kampala. Why don’t you trust the NRM Flag bearers because President Museveni will have no way of fulfilling the party manifesto when at the lower levels there are no rightful leaders to implement the NRM Manifesto. I beg you to trust and vote for the LCIII Councilors and Chairmen come may 31.
This time round NRM LCIV Councilors you are the majority, they have been deceiving you with money, plots of land and trip abroad. I would like to tell you that the trips aren’t there. We are the majority and NRM should sweep all the posts. Thank you all for coming to welcome me. We shall organize several parties to the parishes because many people have been complaining that they failed to get transport. I’ll go back to the parishes and thank everyone. The party will be held after the court case because we don’t want to celebrate in halves.
I want to thank Madina Zalwango and I’ll work with you for the betterment of the people of Entebbe Municipality. I’ve not come to bring divisions or fight for people. I’ll work with everyone regardless of their party or religious affiliation. I’m now an MP for all. If you like me or you don’t like me God has chosen me to be your next leader.
Let me thank all the men and women who have come from the different barracks. Thank you so much. I want us to have a fresh start in the next five years and let us put our differences and infighting aside and forgive one another. The time for politicking is over, it’s now time to work. Let’s work together and ensure that President Museveni’s manifesto is implemented.
And lastly to everyone I wronged while we were on the campaign trail, I beg for your forgiveness. I wish you all well as we strive to build our nation. May God Bless you all.
For God and My Country.
