Entebbe Club’s Willy Deus Kitata had a chance to redeem himself at the Lady Captain Golf Tourney held on Saturday at the Par 72 Kitante Golf Course after he failed to qualify for the upcoming Zone VI Golf Challenge due next month at the par 72 Kitante Golf Course.
Kitata returned a total of 75 Nett to Claim Group A Slot to end the bitter week where he failed to make it to the National Team that will represent Uganda at the Zone VI Golf Challenge. His success earned him a home theatre and a one month membership at the Sheraton hotel health club and Gym.
. “It feels good to come back and win here on this course,” Kitata stated. “I have had a mixed round of results this week and am happy to put those results away by winning here.” Kitata told Kawowo sports website’s Phillip Cory.
The Entebbe based golfer together with his club-mate Peter Ssendaula failed to qualify for the national team that is preparing for the Africa Zone VI at the Uganda Golf Club.
The team is made up of Lawrence Muhenda, Ronald Bukenya, Robert Oluba, Ronald Otile, Adolf Muhumuza, Martin Ochaya, Gideon Kagyenzi, Henry Lujja, Ronald Rugumayo and Happy Robert.
The new kid on the team is Entebbe Club’s Martin Ochaya, who ended his campaign with a total of 13 points just captain Adolf Muhumuza, who concluded with the same number of points.
The junior team has Daniel Baguma, Hassan Kiyemba, Richard Baguma and Herman “Deco” Mutebi.
The Uganda Golf Union and selectors will have the provincial start intensive training next week and eventually select the full squad that will represent the national team soon with two seniors players included.
Charity Opolot emerged as the overall winner in the ladies category with 65 Nett while Simon Rhee was the men’s overall winner with 64 Nett. Entebbe Ladies Champion Irene Nakalembe was winner in the ladies longest drive category. The tournament was sponsored by flydubai as the main sponsor others included Uganda Breweries Limited, City Tyres, Unilever, Access Repro Graphics, Sheraton Hotel, Quality Chemicals, ICEA, Century Bottling Company, Samsung, Case Medical Services, Dr Kerali.
