Entebbe based golfer and 2014 Uganda Open winner Willy Deus Kitata, wants to turn professional next year after having second thoughts about the idea that has been ringing in his mind.
“I wanted to turn professional even before travelling with the national team to Zambia,” Kitata said at Entebbe club on Sunday. “I have told my sponsors that I will be turning professional next year, but they have continued to tell me am still needed as an amateur.”
Kitata, won the Uganda Open golf championship in September and has recently been with Team Uganda taking part in the Africa Golf Confederation President’s Cup in Kitwe, Zambia were they finished seventh.
“My intention is too turn professional in Europe or Asia,” Kitata added. “I thought about it for a while since winning the Uganda Open and my consensus tells me I should turn professional.”
Kitata missed out on playing for the national team that won East African Golf Challenge in August at the Entebbe Club he was off on tour playing in several Pro-Am golf tournaments in Europe.
