It was another joyous and blessed year for the Catholic community at Entebbe International Airport as they celebrated their second anniversary as a chaplaincy on Thursday at the Main Entebbe International Airport Grounds. The second anniversary celebrations began with the main celebrant Rev. Fr. Raymond Kalanzi from the Kabula Muliro Catholic Parish blessing and dedicating the ongoing upgrade and expansion works at the departure and arrival blocks at the Airport to God and thereafter presided over a praise and worship mass that was held at the main Entebbe Airport Grounds.
In his sermon Rev. Fr. Kalanzi called on the Catholics to remain focused on serving God and living exemplary lives and avoid clinging on their past. He also called on the Catholics to shun bad company and friends and only associate themselves with friends and people that are God fearing.
Kaita Specioza, the outgoing Chairperson of the Inaugural Chaplaincy thanked the executive that she served with and urged the newly elected Chaplaincy chairperson Molly Namulumba and her executive to work towards having a permanent structure where the Catholics at the Airport can worship from.

Molly Namulumba thanked her predecessor for keeping the chaplaincy vibrant and called on the congregation to continue lifting and supporting the chaplaincy. She thanked Civil Aviation Authority management (CAA) for selflessly supporting the Chaplaincy and reminded them on the need to locate a piece of land where a chapel can be built.
Meanwhile Kisekka Samalie the CAA Director Finance who represented CAA Managing Director Dr. David Kakuba at the Anniversary celebrations said Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) management will always remain supportive to the Catholic Community and the chaplaincy because they take matters of faith very seriously.
“We (CAA) strictly commence our management meetings with a word of prayer because we take matters of faith very seriously. We shall continue supporting the chaplaincy because it is paramount for us to have faithful people who understand the values of honesty, love and integrity and we need your daily blessings and prayers to successfully complete the various ongoing upgrade and expansion projects at the Airport including upgrade and expansion of the cargo terminal and passenger terminal”, CAA’s Samalie Kisekka said.

On his part, CAA Public Affairs Manager Vianney Luggya revealed that the Catholic Chaplaincy is for all Catholics working at the Airport adding that they were privileged to host his eminence Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who also doubles as the Chaplaincy patron and Papal Nuncio to Uganda.
Luggya disclosed that the various ongoing upgrade and expansion projects at the Airport are progressing well.

The China Communication and Construction Company (CCCC) have completed the earthworks where the new 100,000 cargo centre terminal will be built. The expansion of the Aircraft parking Apron is also progressing well including the widening of the runway which has to accommodate bigger Aircrafts like the A380 which is finding some difficulties in landing on the current runway. The upgrade and expansion of the passenger terminal and the long term car parking are the other projects being undertaken at Entebbe International Airport”, Vianney Luggya stated.

Molly Namulumba (Das Handling) the newly elected Chaplaincy Chairperson will be deputized by Vianney Luggya (CAA) while Mugisha Patrick (Cargo Clearing), Sarah Nansubuga and Peter Sekyewa (ENHAS) will serve as Treasurer, Secretary and Catechist.
