Katuramu Stage proved a better side over Kigungu stage in a match that was played at the Kiwafu Play Ground. Katuramu stage grabbed an early lead in the 10th minute after striker Patrick Lwanga managed to convert a penalty in the 10th minute. Godfrey Mukudane earned an equalizer for Kigungu stage in the 75th minute with a well taken shot from the centre half. However Lwanga converted another penalty in the 87th minute after he was fouled by Ssempijja Alifunsi who was later substituted after he sustained an injury in his right arm.
The 2015 edition kicked off on Saturday with Mulefu stage beating Lwazi 2-1 while Kabubu stage beat Masaka stage 1-0 on Monday. Tournament resumes this weekend with Upland stage taking on Bugali stage on Saturday while 4-point stage will be up against Lwazi stage on Sunday. All matches kick off at 4:00pm.
This is the third edition of the EDIBBA (Entebbe Division B Boda Boda Association) CUP and 10 Boda Boda stages are participating in the tournament. The Boda Boda stages are Lwazi, Mulefu, Katulamu, Kigungu, Kabubu, 4-point, Bugali, Masaka, Upland and Kabuye complex.
The winner of the tournament will walk away with a trophy, a bull and a full set of jerseys while the runner up will only get jerseys and a goat, first runner up will receive jerseys and a cash envelope while the second runner up will receive 15 pairs of stockings.
“Our aim is to promote sports amongst ourselves as Boda Boda operators. The tournament also gives us the exposure to be scouted by some of the Uganda premier league clubs” EDIBBA Vice Chairman Emmanuel Nsereko Mugabi stated.
