Musician Eddy Kenzo has called out the organizers behind the just-concluded Ntungamo event for allegedly disrespecting Ugandan artists in preference to Diamond Platnumz.
According to Eddy Kenzo, the Tanzanian Bongo Flava star was meant to share a stage with Bebe Cool, Ray G, and Kenzo himself, but he was given special treatment at the expense of the local artists. He was allegedly flown into the country with a private jet, and he used a helicopter to get to the venue while the rest travelled by road.
Even after rehearsals, Diamond Platnumz was flown around in a way Kenzo thought was meant to spite the local artists.
“We were performing together but they did too much. I’m not speaking out of envy. We are also human. We understand they had to give him extra attention as a visitor but it went beyond. They were just showing off and putting our industry down. Going by what they did, no Ugandan artist deserved that kind of treatment” he said.
Rumours suggested that Diamond had been paid a whopping 750 million to grace the event, while Ugandan artists were paid peanuts. Eddy Kenzo blamed the organizers for not valuing local talents and instead paying a ridiculous amount to a guest.

“If he is worth it, then it means I’m too. That is why they booked me. they had to give us a fair treatment too and wouldn’t maybe have invited us if they didn’t see our value” he said.
The Big Talent boss had previously stated that he would not perform at concerts with foreign artists, but he broke his promise for the Ntungamo event. He revealed that he has always rejected such offers out of fear of disrespect.

The committee, however, reached out to him for this particular gig. At first, he turned down the offer but gave in because the people behind it are his friends. Initially, they had put Diamond Platnumz as the only performer, but they changed after backlash from netizens on Twitter.
Jose Chameleone was also scheduled to attend the event, but turned down the offer at the last minute and flew to Rwanda for his gig. Eddy Kenzo revealed that a heated argument broke out during negotiations, and Jose Chameleone insulted the organizers before backing out.
