Western Ugandan rising artist Dexta Rapper has opened up about a possible collaboration with Akon in the near future.
Dexta, born Christopher, while speaking to the Media, confessed that the Senegalese American singer and songwriter approached him in his DMs after seeing his song going viral.
The Ugandan rapper claims that Akon invited him to his upcoming show and promised that after their collaboration, they would hit the studio to work on a song together.
Dexta’s ‘in wa wa wa’ song and dance featuring his father Masereka Uziah went viral on all social media platforms, especially TikTok, birthing thousands of challenges across the world. Among the big celebrities who posted the famous duo on their pages was Akon.
Akon came to my inbox and said he had seen me all over. He promised to link up with me and have me on his show. He said after the show, they would see how to go to the studio and make something happen. I was so happy for that and proud to be Ugandan. Any time, just hope for anything because very many things are still coming. This is not just a trend, but it will produce another trend, he said.
The song from which the famous ‘In a Wa’ phrase was is a single off his album ‘My Journey’. He, however, revealed that the famous phrase was not part of the song but just something he came up with while on stage that lucky night.

Dexta thanked Ugandans and every person across the world who has embraced him and his father. He attributed his breakthrough to his dad and the big team for the support they have given him. The duo has now been elevated from music stages to appearing in advertisements for various brands. When asked how much he charges for an appearance, he revealed that the price was subjective.
We are very humble because we have humble advisors. We do not let anyone out; we discuss any amount that you have, or we tell you what to go with. We are not that high, he said.
Masereka, on the other hand, narrated his humble background, stating that before he achieved his big breakthrough in the industry, he was selling cassava on the roadside. He acknowledged his son’s talent and revealed he was very happy to support him as his backup dancer on every stage he steps on.
“I encourage all parents to support their children. Because of my son, I’m in Kampala now,” he said.
