    17th JBG Golf Tourney:

    Overall Winner:

    Shou – Ta Huang (40 Stable Ford Points)

    Chinese businessman, Shou – Ta Huang overcame a dismissal start to win the 17th edition of the annual JBG Golf tournament at the par 71 Lake side Entebbe Golf Club.

    “After the first two holes, where I scored 0 points, I knew I was just playing to finish my game. But when I sunk a birdie on hole 3, I realized I would score some points”, Huang narrated his game strategy to the 19th hole gallery during the official prize giving ceremony.

    Playing off handicap 24, Huang, who registered just one birdie (on hole 3), scored 19 and 21 points in the first and second nine holes respectively.

    Haung dethroned last year’s eventual winner, Timothy Okwi, a UPDF private, who could this time manage to walk home with the second runners up group B prize with 36 points

    “For the 113 years of golf in Uganda, we are grateful JBG has proudly sponsored 17 of these” Innocent Kihiika, Entebbe Club chairman remarked as he applauded JBG’s commitment of sponsoring this annual golf tourney since 1997.

    Other Winners:

    Jinja based Golf pro, Saidi Mawa beat 13 other professionals to claim the best professional prize and take the largest fraction of the U.shs 5M cash prize staked by the sponsors.

    The towering Mawa scored 75 and 72 gross scores over the two days to dethrone last year’s winner, Fred Wanzala, another pro from Jinja club.

    Akright Kakungulu estates’ Palm Valley based golfer, Abraham Ainamani scooped the best gross players’ award.

    Ainamani, a national team golf member (handicap 3) played 74 and 78 gross scores on day 1 and 2 respectively to topple 16 others that included Joseph Mawejje, Joseph Ochaya, John Basabose among others.

    Peter Fatiga, handicap 12 scored 19 point apiece in the front and back holes to total 38 stable ford points and claim victory in Group A while Mike Fiacco (handicap 18) won group B with 35 stable ford points.

    Ladies:

    Gloria Mbaguta, handicap 11 took the group 0 – 16 group category after returning 39 stable ford points while Diana Nabukenya (handicap 33) was the best in the 17 – 36 handicap category.

    Nabukenya scored 19 and 20 in the 1st  and back 9 holes respectively to amass 39 points.

    193 golfers participated in the day’s long event that was run on a stable ford full handicap format.

    Peter Fadiga H/C 12 (35 Points)

    Group B:

    Mike Fiacco H/C 18 (35 Points)

    Gross Winner:

    Abraham Ainamani H/C 03 (Day 1: 74, Day 2: 78: Total Gross 152)
