Renowned producer Bushingtone, real name George Kagoda, has confirmed withholding Lydia Jazmine’s music album over nonpayment.
Lydia Jazmine revealed in a recent interview that Bushingtone had refused to give her the album they had recorded.
In his defence, Bushingtone explained in a YouTube interview that he invested much money in the album and would not give it out for free. He insinuated that Lydia had always painted a different picture of him before the public and had never appreciated that he was behind her breakthrough in the industry.
Bushingtone was the brains behind some of Lydia Jazmine’s hit songs, such as “You and Me,” “Masuuka,” and “Nkubanja,” among others, but he has never received any cheque for his royalties for the job done. Even with this, he didn’t restrict her from performing the songs despite having rights through co-writing, producing, and buying.
“I have no issue in giving her the album if she pays for it. And then it has to be done respectfully because I’m not her sibling. I did my job and I have never taken back what I have ever given her. She is eating from that and she should be appreciative.
“I never gave her the rights but she took them by force. I didn’t stop her either. There are artists who have left labels and they don’t sing songs recorded under them. My time, my money, my creativity, how am I going to be compensated for that? She wants to take all this for free? She has the right to talk about me and I have no problem with that but if she wants the album, she has to call me and we sit at the table,” he said.

For the music in question, Bushingtone says Lydia never loved it at all because of its unique sound, which she said would not make her money. Now that artists like Ayra Starr have started exploring that exact sound, she wants to claim it.
“She didn’t like that album and didn’t believe in it. Right now, it is the trending sound, but I didn’t like that album ten years ago. She told me that the songs I was making her sing couldn’t make money because of her advisers at Big Talent,” Bushingtone revealed.
At this point in life, Bushingtone says he no longer cares about what she says publicly about his name because he has moved on and signed two other artists. He says he still plays Lydia’s album to enjoy his craft, and if any artist comes up to pay for it, he will sell it because he owns the rights.
“I don’t want to miss out on working with just people just because some are bad. It is my music, I composed it, paid for it and I own it. If you have a problem with it, just kill me. If you want it, just pay for it but be professional. Let us not use people and make them look like fools just because we can cry on camera,” Bushingtone said.
