Shortly after arriving at Entebbe International Airport on Friday at 1359hrs (1:59pm) aboard Emirates EK729 flight from the United States (US), Kyandodo East Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Kyagulani popularly known as Bobi wine was immediately detained and blocked from leaving the Entebbe Airport premises. Clad in a black jacket, black pants and white shirt with a red ribbon tied around his head, Bobi Wine who donned a “TOGIKWATAKO” Banner firmly held the Ugandan Constitution and the Ugandan Flag as Police mounted barricades at the Entebbe Airport road toll area to block him from leaving.
Frank Mwesigwa, the Kampala Metropolitan (KMP) Commander commanded the entire operation alongside a host of Police officers who tried to negotiate with him to abandon a procession to Kampala that he had planned to hold.

According to reliable sources, Bobi Wine, was scheduled to address a press conference at White Sand Beach (former spennah Beach) and thereafter lead his supporters who had camped at Entebbe Airport in a procession to the city.
Moses Bigirwa, a prominent opposition activist and a Bobi Wine supporter who had camped at Entebbe Airport to welcome him, indicated that Bobi Wine was detained because of the two audio clips he circulated on Whatsapp regarding the contentious age limit debate.
“After recording and circulating his two audio clips expressing his disapproval with the removal of the age limit in the constitution, Bobi Wine travelled to the United States to hold a series of meetings with top US Government officials. Police waited for him and on his return, they detained him because they claim the audio clips, tantamount to inciting violence. We were also told that he was also detained because he was plotting to a lead a procession to the city”, Moses Bigirwa stated.

Bobi Wine was later released in the night after he recorded a Police Statement at the Entebbe Airport Aviation Police station where he was detained. He was driven at break neck speed in a Police convoy to his home.
Bigirwa disclosed that Bobi Wine will hold a rally on Monday in Kasangati and thereafter he will travel to Kamuli District where he will launch the “Kogikwatako” campaign.
